How to Prep Your Home For Spring

With just a few days until spring, the flowers are already blooming and the sun is shining – but if that sun is shining on chipping paint and missing roof shingles, it’s time for an update. Take spring cleaning outside of the house this year and touch up these fixtures that have been left out all winter.

Check Your Shingles

Four months of snow, ice, and wind can really take a toll on your roof. Now that the weather is warmer and your roof is dry, check for any loose or missing shingles. But we have to warn you, any projects that take you on the roof can be incredibly dangerous, so we suggest you pick up a phone instead of a ladder and have a professional do this job.

Fix Those Sagging Gutters

Gutters that are cracked or have started to pull away from the side of your house are not only unsightly – they’re a major flood risk. Replace or seal any cracked gutters and make sure your downspouts drain away from the foundation of your house.

Inspect Your Chimney and Flue

Have your chimney checked for any structural damage or visible problems. You should also have the flue and any other vents cleaned of any dust or debris.

Check Your Outside Faucets and Spouts

Even though the weather is getting warmer, your faucets and plumbing can still be suffering the effects of last month’s freezing temperatures. If your hose has any strange knots or bubbles, it means it has frozen. This could also indicate that your home’s pipes are damaged as well.

Have Your AC Unit Inspected

You may still be a month or so away from actually turning it on, but it’s important to have your air conditioning serviced in the spring. Early maintenance means your unit will be running perfectly during that first unseasonably hot day of spring.

Whether you need an air conditioning repair, tune-up, inspection, maintenance plan, or new air conditioner, Mitch Wright Heating & Cooling is prepared to take care of any air conditioning problem you may have. For more information on the services we offer, give us a call at (662) 269-0851.
