4 Signs You Need a Dehumidifier

Summer is here, and it’s ~surprisingly~ humid already. While an air conditioner may be a great way to stay cool, it can’t necessarily get rid of the downside of humidity: mold. Don’t be alarmed, though — here at Mitch Wright, we’ve got you covered. Below are four common signs that you need a dehumidifier:

Sign 1: Visible Mold Buildup

This merciless “creature” can either be visible (on ceilings, floors, bathroom tiles, etc.) or completely invisible. Regardless of its occupancy, mold is hazardous to your health, primarily affecting your respiratory system. With the help of a dehumidifier, the production/ build-up of mold will be less predominant in your space, and in your lungs!

Sign 2: Weird Smells

During warmer months, underground spaces are known to heat up and cause a foul smell. This odor is from excess moisture, which produces mold and bacteria. These specimens can also damage personal belongings. With a standard dehumidifier, it will alleviate the build-up, and save that beloved sofa from your college years!

Sign 3: Indoor Allergies

Mold and bacteria build-up will extend seasonal allergies. Introducing a dehumidifier into your space will diminish the moisture and congestion.

Sign 4: Bugs

That’s right — if there’s excess moisture build-up in your space, Mother Nature’s little pals will move in. This may explain why you’ve gained some new “pets,” over the past few months. Utilizing a dehumidifier will take the little pests out of your space, and back into the wild!

While a dehumidifier is a great way to improve your indoor air quality, it can’t do everything. At Mitch Wright Plumbing, Heating & Air, we offer free in-home air quality inspections. To see if you qualify, or want to schedule your appointment, call us today at (901) 795-9044.
