Signs of a Poorly Insulated Attic

One of the most overlooked spaces in any home happens to be the attic.
Whether you utilize the space for spare belongings or don’t use
it at all, it’s highly significant that this spot is adequately
insulated to keep your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
Of course, if you think your attic is poorly insulated, then here are
some common signs to look for:

Drafty Rooms

The first and most visible sign of a poorly insulated attic is that there
are plenty of drafty rooms in your home. Granted, it could be because
you left a window open and forgot to close it — but what about those
days where you turn the heat/air all the way up and still feel no change
in temperature?

If that’s the case, then it's time to have your attic revaluated
and reinsulated. This, of course, will be the perfect way to help heat/cool
your home efficiently while providing peace of mind when it comes to the
status of your attic’s overall well-being.

Higher Energy Costs

Feel as if your monthly bills are continuing to rise? Indeed, that’s
another significant result of a poorly insulated attic. Think about it:
no matter how high or low you adjust your thermostat, all of that heat/cool
air will escape through the roof.

Sure this seems harmless, at first, but it’s actually draining your
finances. Ther reason? It's simply because you’re continuing
to use an excessive amount of heat/air that’s not really needed,
which is actually being wasted.

Damp Attic Space

Walking or crawling around your attic and find a wet spot? If that’s
the case, then it’s possible that you might have a leak in your
roof — but it’s also possible that your attic’s insulation
might need to be replaced, too.

Sometimes when your attic is lacking insulation in one spot or the initial
installation was poor, then it’s possible that any humidity fostered
in the space is turning into moisture deposits across the attic. Indeed,
you’ll want to have this problem taken care of immediately since
it could lead to potential ceiling damage.
